ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

 

This year marks the 20th year of celebrating the National Biotechnology Week (NBW) in observance of the Presidential Proclamation No. 1414 s. 2007. As part of the NBW activities, the Department of Agriculture – Fisheries Biotechnology Center (DA-FBC), hosted by the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) – will be conducting the 9th National Fisheries Biotechnology Symposium (NFBS) with the theme “Fisheries Biotech: Supporting Sustainable and Resilient Fisheries Industry for a Food-secure Philippines” on November 6-7, 2024 in Diamond Jubilee Hall, Iloilo City. 


It aims to promote the sustainability and resiliency if the fisheries industry in the Philippines, ensuring food security, and economic stability through the integration and application of biotechnology innovations.
